Repainting VS Factory Makeup: Operetta by MySweetQueen-Dolls Repainting VS Factory Makeup: Operetta by MySweetQueen-Dolls

:star:My Commissions are OPEN! send me a note if you are interested Repaint Commissions Info- Materials I use:
watercolor pencils (Staedtler, 36 colors), pastels (Faber-Castell, 24 colors), 3 brushes (Milan, 5/0 1001, 2/0 611 and 6 641), cotton cleasing, nail polish remover (Claire's), glitter (Claire's), water, latex gloves, gloss varnish (Americana) and acrylic varnish (Orita)
- What kind of dolls I repaint?:
Only plastic dolls (monster high, bratz, barbie etc), I won't accept other kind of doll commissions because I have no experience or the proper materials to work on other surface like resin or wood.
- Price:
All my repaints will cost $15 independent of the doll
- I only paint faces, not bodies.
- I'll only submit photos of the finished job because WIP photos can make you doubt and that will slow me down. If you really confide on my style and my hands, then I'm your face-up artist. If you feel unsure without process photos, then maybe I'm not the one for you, don't worry, it's not a problem ^^
- If I have to remove the previous makeup it will in

I really have no interest in Monster High, and BJD's kinda intimidate me, but seeing you repainting these dolls, and having them look so much less, I guess "trashy" is the word I'm looking for, is really cool and inspiring. You are a talented artist. :)

how do you fix all the paint and make-up onto it? it doesn't look varnished, it looks like skin..

I think I don't understand your question very well sorry ><
do you mean how it looks like skin?

that's okey.. erm.. how do you keep the paint from rubbing off, like, do you use mat gloss or what? because the faces don't look glossy, it looks all soft like real skin. savvy?

I use a sealant to keep the paint, and I use latex gloves to don't remove it accidentally
also the paint I use are watercolor pencils and chalk pastels for the blushing, and it helps make a good texture for the skin :)

I really like what you've done, her expression is much more life like, whereas the doll's is quite flat.

I really like these comparison photos. Being able to view the dolls side-by-side allows me to clearly see the work you put into your repaints. With her original factory makeup, she looks very flat and, well, doll-like! In contrast, your repaint has so much character. I love the soft shading, the colors you used, how you softened the hair up, and how you gave her a more realistic expression. All of those simple details have given her a lot of personality, and made her really charming! Wonderful work! :)

aw man Operetta's glued in curls make me wince every time... And I'm not sure why anyone thought the giant factory eye makeup was a good idea... yours looks so much better, more like something a person would actually have their face look like

I love how your repaints are much more realistic than the factory paint. The skin tone had more depth, the eyes have emotion, and the lips are a natural shape and they actually look real, not flat and fake. Plus the fake that the eye makeup is much more blended and natural than the hooker eye makeup you usually see on dolls.
